City of Winter Park: free bulk days (May and November)
Waste Pro collects bulk items such as appliances and furniture (not hazardous waste) free of charge twice a year, in May and November. City code describes this as an unlimited amount of bulk waste on those two annual collections.
November 2026 dates
From the City of Winter Park's October 14, 2026 announcement:
| Your regular garbage days | City-listed November dates | When to set out |
|---|---|---|
| Monday / Thursday | Thu, Nov 5 and Thu, Nov 12 | After 5 p.m. the evening before |
| Tuesday / Friday | Fri, Nov 6 and Fri, Nov 13 | After 5 p.m. the evening before |
The city says to place items curbside "after 5 p.m., on the evening prior to their second regularly scheduled household trash pickup day." Waste Pro says Winter Park garbage is collected twice a week, either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday, so your "second" day is Thursday or Friday. The dates in the table are those Thursdays and Fridays. See the note below on the wording.
What's included, and what isn't
- Yes: old furniture, broken appliances and other bulky household items.
- No: household hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, gas, oil and the like), e-waste, and yard waste. Waste Pro also lists construction debris and fencing as not included in the cleanup events.
- Residential customers only. Businesses and contractors aren't covered.
How to set it out
Per the city's announcement and City Code Sec. 82-44:
- Put items at the curb. Don't block sidewalks or roadways.
- Keep the pile at least 4 feet from your carts, yard waste, mailboxes, trees, parked cars, fire hydrants, fences and poles, and not under low-hanging branches or overhead wires.
- Appliances and metal items go in a separate pile from the rest.
- Remove the doors from refrigerators and freezers (the city requires this so children can't get trapped) and drain the gas from gas-powered equipment.
- Any container you put bulk waste in will be taken too, so don't use one you want back.
Outside May and November: paid extra pickups
- Curbside homes: you can order extra bulk pickups for an additional charge. Call Waste Pro at 407-774-0800 for a quote.
- Apartments, townhomes and condos without curbside service: contact Waste Pro directly at 407-774-0800 to arrange a large-item pickup (fees may apply).
- City code (Sec. 82-47): don't put items at the curb until you've been given a collection date, and no more than 48 hours before it. Don't set out special-collection items after a named storm watch or warning has been issued, until it's lifted.

Pay someone to take it
If you can't wait for a bulk day, can't lift the items, or have construction debris or fencing that bulk day won't take, a junk-removal service can haul it for a fee. We haven't verified prices for Winter Park-area junk-removal companies, so we don't list any. Ask whether disposal fees are included in the quote.
What we couldn't verify
We list these openly rather than guess:
- The exact set-out evening for November 2026. The city's release says households "need to put their items curbside November 5 & 12" (Thursday) and "November 6 & 13" (Friday), and also says to set out "after 5 p.m., on the evening prior to" your second weekly garbage day. Those dates are Thursdays and Fridays, so we read them as collection days, with set-out the evening before. Confirm at 407-599-3479.
- Whether every household gets both dates or just one. In 2025, the city assigned one date by location (north or south of Fairbanks/Aloma avenues). The 2026 release doesn't say how that's split.
- Whether mattresses count as bulk items. The city and Waste Pro name "furniture, appliances, etc." but don't mention mattresses specifically.
- What extra bulk pickups cost. Neither the city nor Waste Pro publishes a price on the pages we checked. Waste Pro gives quotes at 407-774-0800.
- Whether the "unlimited amount" rule is still current. It comes from Ordinance 3055-16 (2016). The city's current pages don't give a size limit for bulk days, so we couldn't confirm a newer rule.
- The May 2027 bulk dates. They hadn't been announced when we checked.
- Junk-removal prices in the Winter Park area.
